First and foremost, I am a proud Black women from Denver, Colorado. I use writing, food, and tourism to learn about the cultures and communities around me. My first aim is to create and protect spaces for communities of color. We need spaces where we are the authors, and not just the subjects of stories/exhibits/tourism etc. Whether it's through dining experiences, tourism spaces, travel, or in writing, we all deserve to be celebrated, our way.
As a past social worker and current food scholar, I utilize a values-led approach to my work:
Empowerment~ Inclusivity~ Intentionality in Community Building
Builder/Weaver began as a gentle whisper in 2020, developed into a changing-perspective during my Food Studies program at Chatham University, and blossomed into the business you see today.

As a builder, I will collaborate with you to incorporate inclusive, culturally appropriate and respectful engagement practices into your communications, outreach efforts, and tourism spaces.
As a weaver, I will complete qualitative research, engage in academic scholarship around food, culture, and placemaking in order to make sure that this information goes beyond the classroom walls.
Here, communities, with their culture and their food, are the authors, not just the subject matter.
Builder/Weaver engages with cultures, communities and organizations to create joyful, engaging, and equitable spaces of edutainment, culinary tourism, learning and training. Through relationship building with communities, scholarly research, and writings and program management, Builder/Weaver uses food, culture, travel, placemaking, and her experience as a Black woman to provide services which empower and embolden traditionally underserved communities.
